Another bar is coming to 601 W. Sixth St. from hospitality queen Bridget Dunlap, who plans to open Parlor & Yard by late February. Also the founder of Lustre Pearl, Container Bar and Clive, she’ll turn her latest project into a Frank “Sinatra-esque sports and game lounge,” according to a press release.
The throwback sports bar will have — in addition to an indoor lounge space where you can relax with a drink — plenty of old-school games in the patio area to get you off your feet, including yard dice, corn hole and board games. Parlor & Yard is able to open so quickly after Arro’s shuttering because much of the design isn’t changing.
According to Parlor & Yard’s newly made Facebook page, its “homage to vintage captures an era when sports were America’s pastime, and the inclusion of interactive games is a vestige of game nights.”
Haddington’s, the restaurant that Arro took over for in 2013, didn’t last more than a couple of years, either, but Dunlap may have better luck with Parlor & Yard given her ability at opening popular bars here. She resurrected the beloved Lustre Pearl, a powder-blue bungalow, last fall in a new East Austin location.
Parlor & Yard will be open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Mondays thru Fridays and 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. on weekends. Stay tuned for more details about its official opening, and for more information, visit parloryard.com.
